Semolina Porridge (Mannaya Kasha)

Semolina porridge - known in Russian as mannaya kasha - is far more than just a breakfast staple. Kasha has a long history in Russia, stretching back to ancient pagan traditions, when porridge and the grains it was made from were seen as gifts from Mother Earth.

For many Russians, this milk-based semolina porridge has been a familiar dish since early childhood.

Semolina is made from high-quality wheat grains, ground in a special way.

Porridge made from this grain is both delicious and nutritious. Semolina is produced from the central part of the wheat kernel. Its chemical composition is similar to that of rice, but it contains more protein. Thanks to its unique makeup, semolina is nearly 100% digestible and helps quickly restore energy. It also cooks fast and contains very little fiber - only about 0.2%.

• 1 pint milk

• 1 tbsp butter

• 1 tbsp sugar

• Salt to taste

• Seedless berry jam (optional)
