Russian Orthodox Iconography

Icons hold an important place in the religious and artistic tradition of Russian Orthodoxy. They traditionally depict Christ, the Virgin Mary, saints, angels, and important biblical and religious events according to established artistic conventions.

Miraculous icons have a particularly significant place in Orthodox tradition. Certain icons are venerated by believers and are associated with longstanding traditions of prayer, pilgrimage, and reported miracles.

This calendar brings together religious imagery and a practical household format, allowing a different icon or artistic image to be viewed throughout the year.
