ZEFIR & PASTILA
Zefir, also known as zephyr, zephir or zefi, is a popular Russian confectionary that's traditionally made by whipping berry or fruit purée with sugar and egg whites. A gelling agent such as pectin, gelatine, or agar is also added. It’s light and airy, and typically shaped like a meringue. Zefir are usually white or light pink in color. The texture is similar to that of a strawberry marshmallow. Zefir is considered to be one of the healthier sweets in modern society as it contains zero fats, plus fast-acting carbohydrates which increases brain flow and activity. If made with pectin, zefir is said to be able to lower cholesterol and increase the immune system whilst removing toxins from the body. Zefir in this product has the right texture, the chocolate covered marshmallows is very good.
Russian zefir can only be described as an American marshmallow as an approximation. Puréed fruit and berries are whipped with egg whites and sugar to make zefir. It is less chewy than a marshmallow and has a lot more flavor, not just sugar. Zefir is healthy. The Russian Academy of Medical Sciences officially advises it as a food for children. Of course, you should not eat much. The recommendation of scientists: not more than 50 grams in one day. Zefir contain 0 fats. Also, it contains “fast carbohydrates” and useful for fast energy recovery. “Fast carbohydrates” helps a brain to work better. Zefir usually includes pectin. This natural substance is able to remove toxic elements from human's body. Pectin is able to decrease cholesterol level and increases natural immunity. To tell the truth, it is hard to be sure in these magic qualities of pectin, but many medical scientists say it is truth. In any way, pectin is healthy.
